16—The Tower

The Tower

“Rock and Roll”

Yeah, but you already knew this was happening, right?

I have almost never pulled The Tower for a client when the big changes weren't already in process. The Tower looks surprising with its flames and drama, but it almost never comes as a surprise. It's the Tarot's way of saying, “Yeah, this was planned all along, so you can trust it.”

Trust the change. Trust your life.

One cool thing about the Tower is what cards show up next to it. Those cards will tell you how to deal with the changes. That's how the Tower helps you. It acknowledges that the change is here, that the change is good, and then it points your way through.

So when you pull The Tower make sure you grab 1-3 more cards too. Then focus on those as your path through the fire.

So what's next to The Tower? What are its companion cards? And what are they telling you? Here are a few examples:

The Empress? Time for a good long rest.
The Star? Yeah, double up on the therapy and massage.
The Devil? Rise above your old habits to find new coping strategies.
The Ace of Cups? Please go have a good cry.
Ace of Swords? Make the hard decisions and make them without hesitation.
The Magician? Time to make a written down plan. Or whisper your plan to your spirit guides.
The Hirophant? A silent spiritual retreat might really help. Also, cut the BS and anyone who feels like BS.
Ten of Swords? Everything's fine. Find perfection in the chaos. (Yes, really).

Get the idea?

The Tower wants to help. It tells you "resistance is futile" so honor your changes and give yourself just the kind of support you most need right now.

Oh and here's a really important thing-- The Tower usually indicates short term transformation. It might be wide or deep, but it's lot a long haul. So brace yourself, find your support, choose your path through the change based on the companion cards, and know it will be over fairly soon. It's a deep breath that you will soon be able to let out. You will soon be breathing again with ease.
