"Night Moves"
This card has really been speaking to me lately about the night. My own tarot reader also interpreted it as “trickster” energy recently. So let’s look at these two energies in this one beautiful card. Nighttime is a space where we experience deep quiet. Trickster is an energy of leading us down one path (the one we will say yes to) in order to get us to where we really need to go (but maybe didn’t have the courage to choose without a decoy). How are these two energies connected? Trust. TRUST. Trust. The Moon asks us to Trust.Trust what you can’t see.
Your life. Your guides. Your dead loved ones. Your destiny. Your heart. Your gut. The weather. Yeah, trust the weather. It’s on your side. Really.

When I recently moved back to Portland I had to be decoyed. I came saying, “I want to be closer to my friends.” Even though every time I said that I felt like I was lying. Within 5 months of moving, none of those friends were part of my life anymore. But I was here, in Portland, where I belong (for the moment). Right before the move was when The Moon came up in my readings. I knew it was going to trick me and leave me in the dark about the real plan. All I could do was pack up my moving pod and go. Now that I am here, I have the opportunity to see all the other reasons that Portland wants to love and support me. The people I thought were my friends are now out of the way. When I got here it became clear they were not a healthy path for me. But here I am anyway—for ME. In the meantime I started earning more money than I have in years, creative opportunities are opening left and right, I feel totally inspired by my new neighbors, and woah, the food here is GREAT.
Thank you for tricking me, Moon. I needed it.
You probably need it too, so go with it. You won’t have the answers until you have them, so just take the steps in the direction of The Moonlight. It’s gentle. It’s loving. It’s not going to hurt you. It will light the way and eventually the Sun will come up and shine a big bright light on exactly what The Moon wanted for you and why.
